More On Bunta (not For The Faint Of Stomach)...

Benny is a delight he spends his days in his cage digging through timothy, munching carrots and greens, and snacking on his own stool. Why? you ask, well because a rabbit has a very unique digestive system requiring much ruffage (as we require fiber), and it moves through them quickly therefor alot of nutrition can be lost. Rabbits are smart and store the partially digested stool near other foods they are eating so nothing is wasted or lost! Benny also enjoys nibbling on his recycled paper bedding and that is normal behavior too, I just wonder if he reads the comics section first before he eats them.
One more note today, as I mentioned, bunta have a certain gaze to their eye, a "wary" look that I call the "are you gonna feed me or kill me"? look. It must be difficult to be born with an inane sense of curiosity mixed with equal amounts of fear plus the shortest memory span in the animal kingdom!
It all amounts to a sometimes trusting friend who demands your attention by nudging you with his nose and chin that can become a shuddering mass in the corner for no apparent reason. Patience, love, and understanding are needed. Plus an excellent "twig rub" to put my friend at ease. More on twig rubs later...
